Sam’s Club hosts monthly health screenings for members and non-members alike. Tests vary each month, but typically include blood pressure, BMI, cholesterol and vision. CVS plans 800 free health screening events in 2014.
Drive into the designated bay at Discount Tire and Big O Tires and technicians will check the air pressure in your tires and adjust if necessary.
Many hair stylists will trim bangs for free between regular cuts. No tip required, though it’s a nice gesture.
Get free basic alternations when you pay full-price for apparel at Nordstrom, Neiman-Marcus or Saks Fifth Avenue. Bring your Lululemon pants into any one of their stores for free hemming. No receipt required.
Loyalty pays
Join store frequent shopper programs or recycle your used stuff.
Check with your local Goodwill. Many now offer loyalty programs with names like Club Blue or Goodwill Rewards. Not only do you earn points for dollars spent, but typically members get monthly discounts or offers and a discount on your birthday.
Enroll in Cost Plus World Market Explorer Rewards. Once you activate your card, you get 10% off your next purchase. Then get one bag free for every six 12-oz. bags of World Market Coffee you buy.
Staples gives you 5% back on almost every purchase including technology and services, plus free shipping.
Walgreens Balance Rewards give you points for buying certain products, prescriptions, even healthy activities like walking. Earn 5,000 points for $5 off your next purchase or bank points with 40,000 equal to $50. You can also link your card to your AARP membership for extra points.
