free comic book day large

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s FREE Comic Book Day! On May 7, comic book shops give away FREE comic books. (This year marks the 15th year of the colorful giveaway.) Use your “x-ray vision” to find participating shops or, for the those without super powers, use the store locator to find a participating shop. However, before you swoop in for the freebie, be sure to check store hours, as well as any special conditions or restrictions.

Also, many comic book stores host special events for Free Comic Book Day, like live sketching by comic artists or visits by costumed characters. Most shops are independently-owned, so participation and offers will vary. Most have limits on the number of free comic books one person or family can receive. And, as someone very wise once said, “May the force be with you.” (After all, a comic book fan can’t live on Superman alone.)
