We don’t know why it took a nuclear engineer named Charlie Papazian to claim a celebration of pie. Not “pi,” which has its own day on March 14. January 23 (the birthday of said engineer) is a day to honor and enjoy pie of all kinds.
The Romans take credit for the first pie – goat cheese and honey. Well, we have improved on the recipe over the last centuries.
We’ve baked up a list of restaurants and bakeries that are celebrating Pie Day. We’ll update this list, so keep checking back. We suggest that you always check with your local restaurants or bakeries to confirm any deals and make sure they are participating.
Bakers Square: Every Wednesday is Pie Day at Baker’s Square. Get a free slice of pie with a menu items purchase, from 10:30 until close on January 23. Or take home a pie with a $2 discount to celebrate Pie Day, from January 19 to close on January 23. Then come back the following Wednesday for another.
Black Angus : National Pie Day is on a Wednesday in 2019, so you can celebrate by getting a free Sky-High Mud Pie with the purchase of a prime rib dinner.
Carrows Restaurant: January’s Pie of the Month is Apple. Purchase a whole pie for $9.99. Sign up for their eClub and get a free dessert.
Cici’s: Pie is also pizza – and this deal extends into March. Take your kids to Cicis for Rise of the Turtles Tuesdays! Beginning January 22 until March 12, 2019, get a 99-cent Kid’s Buffet with purchase of Adult Buffet and a large drink every Tuesday night. Don’t forget to grab a Ninja Turtle mask!
Coco’s Bakery Restaurant : Go for a Dutch Apple Pie of the Month at Coco’s for $9.99. Join the eClub to receive a free slice of pie.
Country Buffet: Take home a whole pie for just $8.99. We won’t tell.
Grand Traverse Pie Company: All 15 Grand Traverse Pie Company Pie Shops will be giving away a free slice of Apple Crumb or Cherry Crumb pie with any purchase on January 23.
Home Town Buffet : Have your pie slice, then take home a whole pie for $8.99.
Marie Callender’s : The January Pie of the Month is Crazy for Bananas, and you can buy a whole pie for $8.99. Beginning January 17, whole pies will be on sale starting at $7.99. On Mondays, receive a free slice of pie with the purchase of an entree.
O’Charlie’s : It doesn’t have to be National Pie Day every Wednesday, you can get a free slice of pie with a dine-in entree purchase.
Perkins Restaurant and Bakery: Pie Society Mondays get you a free slice of pie with the purchase of an entree, from 11 am to 9 pm.
Shari’s: Get a free slice of pie just for joining the Cafe Club, and another slice of pie on your next birthday. Shari’s makes it easy to join. Simply download the free app, or text PIE and your email address to 73757. Or you can be old-school and get a card at any Shari’s Restaurant.
Village Inn: National Pie Day is on a Wednesday, so head to Village Inn for a free slice of pie on Free Pie Wednesday to celebrate. Dine-in and get a free slice with any purchase on Wednesdays at participating restaurants from 10 am to 10 pm. One slice per person per visit. So go back next Wednesday for another.
