*What’s a REAL ID? It is a form of identification that meets federal standards set by the REAL ID Act, which was enacted in 2005. The ID is required for boarding domestic flights and accessing federal facilities starting May 7, 2025.
To obtain a REAL ID, you must apply for or renew your driver’s license or state identification card and provide specific documents, which vary by state.
