Food Pranks
Food pranks are so popular. Everyone has to eat, right? And most people don’t overthink their food before taking a bite. Use these silly ideas to trick the kids!
- Frozen Cereal – Put cereal and milk in a bowl and freeze it overnight. Then, when the kids come to the table for breakfast, watch them try to eat their frozen cereal.
- Juice That’s Jell-O – Make some jello, then out it in a glass, and serve it to the kids!
- Switching Snack Fillings – Change the fillings in their favorite food. The most popular one is to take out the Oreo filling and replace it with toothpaste! (be careful and safe with this trick!)
- Brown E’s – Cut out brown letter E’s, and put them on a baking pan in the oven. Tell the kids that you make “brownies” and that they can get one from the oven.
- Mayo or Pudding – Clean an empty mayonnaise jar really well, and then fill it with vanilla pudding. Sit and eat straight from the major jar and watch the kids stare in shock!
- Color-Changing Milk – Add a drop of food coloring to the milk carton and watch them wonder what is happening.
- Salt and Sugar – Be ready to waste a little bit of food…but give them some salt instead of sugar to put on their cereal!
- Frozen Orange Juice – Put their orange juice in the freezer the night before, and serve it like there is nothing wrong for breakfast.
Morning Surprises
Kids are always tired in the morning, so that might be the perfect time to pull off a great trick!
- Backward Clothes Trick – Put all their clothes inside out and backward for them to put on in the morning.
- Alarm Clock Switcheroo – Set their alarm clocks for a super early time and see how long they’ll go along with their morning routine before they notice the time.
- Upside-Down Room: Before they wake up, they Flip their posters upside down, turn over their chairs, and turn anything in their room upside down.
- Safety Pin Suprise – Go into the room and safety pin all their underwear together. Then, when they pull out in the morning, they’ll pull at a long line of all of them!
Tech Tricks
- Mouse Trick – Put tape under their computer mouse sensor so that it doesn’t work!
- Password Change – Change their electronic passwords so that nothing works!
School Hijinks
- Wrong-Day Confusion – Convince them that they have a test or some big thing at school that they’ve forgotten about.
- School Lunch – Pack their lunch full of only canned goods, with no way of opening them. (just send some lunch money so they can actually eat!)
Just-for-Laughs Gags
- Soap Trick – Coat the hand-washing soap bar with clear fingernail polish so that it won’t lather.
- Googly Eyes – Put a bit of googly eyes on everything in the house. The trash can, photos, windows, etc.
- Stuffed Animal Tumble – Have all the stuffed animals sitting on the ledge of the door for when the kids come home. When they open the door, they’ll all fall off on them!
- Empty Cup Trick – Put an empty cup upside down on the counter, then put a sticky note next to it saying that you caught a huge spider or mouse – and not to let it out!
Tips to Remember
Tricks and pranks are always fun, but remember to think of your child, too. Don’t do anything that is harmful, mean, or downright scary. It’s all fun and games so keep it light and silly!
