Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta viewing for free!

Here are some off-site ways to catch views of the stunning balloons that take flight during the annual Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta.
The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, which happens in early October each year, says it is one of the most photographed events in the world. It can be busy and crowded.
Sometimes the weather will not cooperate, and you won’t get to see the amazing balloons go up, even after sitting in traffic and paying an entrance fee. Here are a few ways to enjoy the fiesta from afar.
Public parks can be free balloon viewing sites
Arrive early at a nearby park to watch the balloons go by.
Vista Del Norte Park is south of the Balloon Fiesta and there is a good chance of seeing the balloons from this location. The balloons might even land at the park.
North Domingo Baca off Paseo Del Norte Boulevard and Alameda and another great place to see the colorful hot air balloon display.
Cabezon Park in Rio Rancho is also a popular take off spot for Rainbow Ryders throughout the year.
The Bien Shur Restaurant is also a great place to watch the balloons and catch a sunset. Reservations are recommended. Visit Bien Shur for details. Be sure to ask for a table overlooking Balloon Fiesta Park and enjoy the view of an evening Balloon Glow.
If you want to watch the balloons from inside your car, pull into a parking lot and park your vehicle- stopping along the shoulder of the road is not permitted.
Park your car and look up!
The best off-site viewing locations are between Osuna Road and Paseo Del Norte Boulevard just west of Jefferson; or you can watch off the Pan American Frontage Road; off I-25 North, between Paseo Del Norte and Alameda.
If you want to watch the balloons from inside your car, pull into a parking lot and park your vehicle. Be safe and do not stop on the side of the road.
