The United State Tennis Association wants to encourage kids to get active with tennis in celebration of Nickelodeon’s Worldwide Day of Play on September 24, 2012, and National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month. The association is sponsoring Free Tennis Play Days at locations through the United States through October 6 for kids of all ages and skill levels to expose them to tennis.
Kids will participate in tennis skills activities and enjoy court time in a fun, low-pressure setting where they can develop their skills. The free Play Days are on multiple dates and times all over the country between now and October 6, 2012, so enter your zipcode to find a location near you. Registration is not required, but parents may contact the organizers of the individual events for questions. Who knows, you may be raising a little Andre Aggasi or Serena Williams?
I was made aware that it is not free, there is a $5 fee.

You will need to register for the 9/22 Play Day through the Park Pass system – www.parkpass.org # XXXX99. It is $5 (not free).
Thanks for sharing that information. We looked at several cities, and the events were free. So it appears as if your community is one of the few that has decided to charge for participation.
