Burger King: Get Whopper for 1¢ at McDonald’s

This is a whopper of deal, unlike anything bargain hunters have seen before.

It’s not often a restaurant takes a direct aim at its competitors, but Burger King is doing just that.

Through Dec. 12, grab your smartphone (or mobile device) and head to McDonald’s to get a Whopper for 1¢. Yes, McDonald’s!

First, you need to download the new BK mobile app. Next, you need to place your order for the discounted Whopper, while at McDonald’s. (Technically, you need to be within 600 feet of a McDonald’s.)

The Whopper Detour promo works by geofencing McDonald’s locations, meaning if you’re inside a geofenced area, the new BK app will unlock the Whopper-for-a-penny deal. Then, once the Whopper is ordered, you will be “detoured” away from McDonald’s, as the app navigates you to the nearest participating Burger King for pick-up. Limit one per customer.
