Presidents’ Weekend and Valentine’s Day make February a busy month for sales. Here are some of the best buys this month:
Discounts on lingerie, perfume, jewelry and chocolate are generally no more than 15% in the days before Valentine’s Day, but you may find flowers from online delivery services for half off from Groupon and other daily deal companies.
Feb. 15 is both the day after Valentine’s Day, when popular gift items get clearance prices, and also the start of the three-day Presidents’ Day weekend sales when retailers begin clearing their winter merchandise.
Look for winter coats and boots, sweaters, hats, gloves and other cold-weather needs, along with bedding and furniture.
Actually, furniture is on sale the entire month, with national retailers like Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s featuring home sale weeks and weekends before Presidents’ Day weekend.
Tires also are on sale in February, with larger discounts for end-of-season winter tires than on summer tires or all-seasons.
Expect some doorbuster sales from big box retailers like Best Buy, Target and Walmart. If Presidents’ Day Weekend 2012 is any guide, that will be electronics, including laptops, printers and large screen HDTVs, and appliances, including dishwashers.
As always with any sale, remember that it’s not a bargain until you use it.
