American Express Small Business Saturday

Small Business Saturday is an initiative from American Express encouraging customers to shop in local brick and mortar stores — rather than the big box retailers. As an incentive, American Express customers can get a $10 credit, when they shop at a local store with their American Express card on Saturday, November 30. Here’s how it works: Starting Sunday, November 24, register your American Express card with Small Business Saturday. Only a limited number of cards will be accepted, so don’t wait too long to register your card. (Last year, AmEx met its limit rather quickly.)

Then, on November 30, shop at a local small business that is registered for the program, spend at least $10 in one transaction and just pay with your American Express card. In about eight weeks, you’ll receive a $10 credit on your billing statement.

There are two ways to find local participating businesses. Enter your city name or zip code on the Small Business Saturday map. Small businesses that accept American Express payment through The Square also qualify, but may not appear on the Small Business Saturday map. You can find them through The Square Directory.
