September is National Yoga Month and it’s a perfect opportunity to try a yoga class FREE. Yoga is an excellent form of exercise with many health benefits. There are various styles of yoga, from relaxing to vigorous and beginner to advanced, so there are options for everyone, even if you think you aren’t flexible enough or would get bored.
Yoga Health Foundation is offering a Yoga Month Card that is good for one week of FREE yoga for new clients at one of 2,000 local studios across the country in September and October. Select a participating studio near you and register for your Yoga Month Card. Print out your card and redeem it at the designated studio for a free week of yoga classes.
In addition to a free week of yoga, many studios will also be offering special events during National Yoga Month, such as special classes for donation only or the first annual Time for Yoga Global Community Practice, which will held at studios around the world on September 30, 2013, beginning at 7 p.m. as an international observance and the culmination of Yoga Month.
As an athlete and gym rat, I always thought that yoga would be boring. I started taking classes that were free at my gym and I am hooked! Ashtanga, which is a more vigorous style, is my personal favorite, and for the past several months, I’ve been practicing two to three times each week. I encourage everyone to try a variety of classes so they can decide what they enjoy the most.
