Pull the kids off the sofa for a FREE activity. Home improvement retailer Lowe’s offers FREE projects for youngsters, usually every other weekend.  The next project is Sandman’s plane at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 1, based on the “Rise of the Guardians” animated holiday film. During the Build and Grow Clinics,  youngsters use kid-friendly tools, glue and other neat stuff.   All participants receive a FREE apron, goggles, a project-themed patch and certificate of merit if they finish the craft.

You do need to pre-register for these workshops because they fill quickly in some cities. Sign-up is easy — just select a clinic. Then, enter your zip code and select a store. Finally, enter your e-mail and attendee names. Lowe’s is one of a number of stores that offer free, hands-on craft workshops for kids.
