If your family is in need of some holiday magic, head over to Santa’s Wonderland at Bass Pro Shops. We know it sounds a bit weird, but the sporting goods mecca runs one of the best holiday extravaganzas around and all activities are free. Through December 24, you’ll find a winter wonderland with animated and “live” elves, nutcrackers, reindeer, an old-time model train area, remote control trucks, wildlife carousel, games and activity tables. Children can write a letter to Santa, color and make fun crafts.

Santa’s Wonderland operates from store opening to closing. Probably the best deal anywhere is kids can even get a FREE 4×6 studio-quality photo taken with the big jolly guy. If the line is long, they can grab a Bass Pass with a designated time to return to Santa’s Wonderland for their photo. Children can also make merry with a free hands-on craft project every day including making ornaments, gift bags and decorating Christmas cookies on Monday through Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and weekends from noon to 5 p.m. The first 125 children to visit Santa’s Wonderland most days also receive a free holiday keychain. Activities do vary by location. Parents get the best present because it’s all FREE. The activities and schedule vary by store, so find your local store’s line-up here.
