Cyber Monday deals may be as good as Black Friday deals — especially in the sense that there’s no standing in line — as long as you take advantage of promo codes, free shipping and other perks.

You can find Cyber Monday deals at most of the major retailers’ websites, including those of JC Penney, Kohls, Macy’s, Walmart, Toys R Us, Target and Sears. Specialty stores that sell athletic clothing, home goods, toys or places that cater to kids and teens are also likely to have dollars-off or percent-off promo codes, and some may have free shipping. Be sure to check for free site-to-store shipping options too. Some of these retailers (Kohl’s is a good example) offer rebates and store credits, bringing the effective cost of the item well below regular sale prices.

But Cyber Monday also offers online-only retailers, including Amazon, Overstock, NewEgg, Buy.com, Tanga and Woot the opportunity to lure you in with lower prices, as will members-only and social-buying sites, including MyHabit, NoMoreRack, Zulily and Groupon. Consider using any credit you may have accumulated with these sites to get even better deals.

Remember to factor in the cost of shipping if it isn’t free, and acquaint yourself with the return policies. (If you pay through PayPal this year, the company promises you free return shipping.) Use your online comparison shopping skills before you click they Buy button.

Babies R Us: 40% off many items; free shipping on orders of $49 or more, or free site-to-store shipping. Babies R Us also offers an “order online, pay in store” option.

Bed, Bath, and Beyond: Free standard shipping on orders of $99 or more until 12/17/2012.
Best Buy: Free standard shipping with no minimum; free $25 savings code with store pickup on purchases of $250 or more
Buy.com: Free shipping is available on many items; expect to see fair discounts across categories, and possibly a “superpoints” bonus.

Home Depot: $5 off orders of $50 or more with coupon code CMHD2012; free shipping on (most) orders of $45 or more.
Hot Topic: 20% off and free shipping on orders of $30 or more with code HTTHANKS.
JCPenney: Cyber Monday sales in most departments; free shipping with no minimum order or promo code required.
Kmart: Free standard shipping on orders of $49 or more.
Kohl’s: Extra 20% off with promo code CYBER20 stacks with sale prices, clearance and any department-specific codes you can find; free shipping with no minimum purchase and no promo code required.
