Our readers know how to be a cheapskate in any city, because they follow our advice. But Kiplinger has just published its lists of the 10 best cities for cheapskates in 2013.
To create the list, Kiplinger looked for places with a low cost of living and relatively high incomes. The magazine also looked for places with lots of public libraries and museums. Then they calculated the number of Dollar General stores within a 30-mile radius.
We’re not sure those are the exact criteria we’d apply, but here is Kiplinger’s list:
- Omaha, Nebraska.
- Ogden, Utah.
- Des Moines Iowa.
- Columbus, Ohio (where you can get lots of great ideas from Columbus on the Cheap).
- Raleigh, North Carolina.
- Salt Lake City (where cheapskates find deals and discounts at Salt Lake City on the Cheap).
- Austin, Texas.
- St. Louis.
- Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
What do you think of this list? What’s the best freebie in your city?
